Here for fun is a hard to find soft cover, comb bound copy of the 1955 Congressional Club Cookbook from Washington DC. This 55 year old cookbook is in good used condition for its age with just a little wear to the covers from use and re-shelving. NOTE: The white plastic spine has the name of the cookbook hand written by hand with just a little kitchen soil. INSIDE the first page has the owners name stamped at the top—the title page. Otherwise, the pages are at least 98% free of any marks, stains or writing.
What makes this cookbook unique is that the recipes were hand written and submitted to the cookbook committee. And, sprinkled throughout the cookbook are cute drawings of both donkeys and elephants (for Democrats and Republicans.)
Chapters include: Appetizers, Sandwiches and Beverages, Bread, Cakes – Desserts – Candies, Desserts, Fowl and Fish, Meat & Luncheon Dishes, Pastries, Pickles & Preserves, Salads – Sauces – Dressings, Soups, Vegetables. There are 427 pages with one hand written recipe per page. What a fun recipe collection!
