If you don't have a cookbook from the South, here is a great classic Louisiana cookbook titled... COTTON COUNTRY COLLECTION
This comb bound cookbook was edited and published by The Junior Charity League of Monroe, Louisiana in 1972--this is a 7th printing from 1977.
This soft cover, comb bound cookbook measures 6 inches wide by 9 inches tall with a whopping 491 pages including index.
This cookbook is in very good used condition with minimal wear to the front and back covers from use and re-shelving. Comb spine has Monroe Louisiana on a sticker that I will leave on the book.
INSIDE the pages are about 98% free of any marks, stains or writing. A great copy!
Chapters include: Drinks, Hors d'Oeuvres, Soups & Gumbos, Eggs & Cheese, Breads, Jellies & Condiments, Salads, Vegetables, Meats, Poultry, Seafood, Game, Cakes, Pies, Desserts, Cookies Candy. There are 490 pages with an average of two to three recipes per page.
This longtime favorite was listed by Craig Claiborne as "one of the finest, most exacting regional cookbooks to be found in America".
There are 1100 collected recipes, a medley of French sauces with Spanish spiciness and African seasonings~ May "ya'll come" to "bon Appetit". The 8 watercolor prints that separate the sections of this book are by a local artist : LUCY SARTOR, and show days gone by in the cotton country.
