Here's a very hard to find cookbook from the Junior League of Louisville, Kentucky titled...
The COOKING BOOK (Cookbook) Louisville Junior League Recipes is dated 1978 with no other date. I believe that this is a 1st Edition or printing.
The covers are in very good condition due in part to the wipe-clean surface with minimal wear to the covers edges. INSIDE, the first page is unusual...it has the name of the cookbook in very tiny letters and how to order other books along with the name of a recipe written in pencil. I don't know if the true title page is missing or they didn't have one. There is a copyright page (1978).
This cookbook's design is unique because the tabs for the chapters are at the TOP of the cookbook! (See pics.) Another unique thing is the way the recipes are laid out on the page. Instead of from side to side, the recipes are written on other side of a dividing line down the middle of the page with an average of 2-4 recipes per page.
This cookbook contains 300 pages of great recipes, turn of the century photographs and brief history. It also contains a special Derby Recipe section. With 295 pages including index. Chapters include: Appetizers, Soups, Entrees, Vegetables, Eggs--Cheese--Pasta, Salads & Condiments, Breads, Desserts, Children's Corner, Derby Menus.
