Here is a wonderful cookbook from 1960 (took a while to find a date) from the Central Presbyterian Church in Buffalo New York. The cookbook was compiled to celebrate the church's 125th anniversary.
This comb bound cookbook is in used, but good condition for its age with just a bit of kitchen soil on the comb and covers and a little bit of wear to the edges from use and re-shelving. INSIDE the pages are at least 98% free of any marks, stains or writing. There is some discoloration on the inside cover and light faded stains on the first page..but again, for its age, still nice.
What makes this cookbook so special is that the recipes were written out by hand--in the writing of the contributing cook. Sprinkled throughout the book are sweet little drawings too. There are 256 pages including index and an average of one and sometimes two recipes per page.
Chapters include: Appetizers, Breads, Cakes & Frostings, Cookies & Candy, Desserts, Salads & Dressings, Pastry, Meats- Fish- Casseroles, Quantity Cooking.
The First Presbyterian Church was the first faith community in Buffalo. Called the “Mother of Churches”, First Church was established on February, 1812 with just ten members, while the British were burning Buffalo!
