This hard cover cookbook is in good used condition with just light wear to the dust jacket and covers from use and re-shelving. INSIDE, there are a few pages that have a turned corner at the tip corner of the page due to a hasty re-shelving. Otherwise the pages themselves are at least 98% free of any marks, stains or writing. There is a small red remainder mark on the bottom of the book.
For all twelve signs of the zodiac, there are 240 recipes and menus. Gormet is excerpting throughout 1988 from all 12 sections of the book--a full page in each issue with a recipe and a Lucy Ash drawing. Illustrated.
Ash is a British artist who writes an occasional column on food and astrology for Gourmet . This eclectic collection of recipes is organized according to signs of the zodiac, representing the purported tastes of those born under each sign; introductory paragraphs on, for example, "Aries the Cook" and "Aries the Guest" precede each section. Regardless of their astrological significance, the recipes are a rather pedestrian assortment of standard French classics, the most familiar ethnic specialties.
