Here is a wonderful spiral bound community cookbook from Odin Minnesota. Created to celebrate their centennial (1899 - 1999) but the cookbook was published in 1997.
This cookbook is in very good condition with just a little wear to the edges and tips of the covers from reading and re-shelving. INSIDE the first page has a nice gift inscription on the title page, otherwise the pages are at least 98% free of any marks, stains or writing.
The cookbook includes two and a half pages of Norwegian jokes written in English, but if you read them out loud, it sounds like you are speaking English with a thick Norwegian accent. A bit of history about the town. Chapters include... Appetizers & Beverages, Breads & Rolls, Cakes - Cookies - Candies, Main Dishes & Casseroles (or in Minnesota, they are known as a Hot Dish.) Meat - Poultry -Seafood, Pies - Pastries - Desserts, Soups - Salads & Sandwiches, Vegetables, This 'n that, Foreign Foods---Our Heritage & In Memory of.. (Pages 229-256) includes a few classic Norwegian and Scandinavian recipes. There are 264 pages including index with an average of 3 recipes per page. Recipes have the name of the contributing cook.
But wait! Just found out something that I didn't know about this town. Ten years ago, the census said that there are only 125 people in town! Can you imagine how much effort went into putting this cookbook together! Kudos to this great little community and a nice classic Minnesota cookbook!
