From 1981, here is a soft cover, comb bound cookbook titled.. Restoration House Cookbook from Mantorville, Minnesota. (MN)
The cookbook is in very good condition for its age with just a little wear to the covers edges from reading and re-shelving. INSIDE the pages are at least 99% free of any marks, stains or writing, but a few of the edges of the pages show some wear and at the back of the book a few pages have a turned edges from a hasty re-shelving--but minimal. There are 177 pages - no index - with an average of three recipes per page.
Chapters include: Breakfast Foods, Cakes. Frostings and Sweet Sauces, Coffee Cakes, Sweet Breads and Muffins, Breads & Batters, Cookies - Bars - Doughnuts - Brownies, Pies, Desserts, Candy, Salads & Dressings, Meats & Hot Dishes (ahhh Minnesota!) Soups - Noodles - Dumplings, Relishes - Preserving - Pickles - Jam - Freezing - Canning, Party Foods, Beverages, Sandwiches, Cures, Household Hints and more! Recipes have been typed out by hand and most of the recipes have the name of the contributing cook.
And just so you know..Mantorville is a small town in SE Minnesota. It was a pony express stop long ago. They have chose to retain their historic history and during tourist season is one of the places to visit. The Restoration House was the first restoration project. It is a well preserved 1856 building. In it's early life it was used as the county office building with offices for sheriff, treasurer, registrar of deeds, etc.. The only prison cell in Dodge County is in the basement. The building is loaded with excellent civil war era furnishings. The unusual, rare historic items will please you.
