Here is a wonderful vintage cookbook - wire spiral with heavy paper front and back covers titled COASTAL COOKERY, a 2nd Edition from 1940 compiled by the Cassina Garden Club in St Simon's Island Georgia (GA).
This cookbook is 70 years old so it does show some wear and foxing (discoloration of the pages) but still for its age, it is in good used condition with just a little wear to the covers from use and storage. The inside cover has the name of the original owner of the book and the title page has an old price in pencil. Otherwise, INSIDE the page are at least 98% free of any marks, or writing. A few small, faded splash stains in a few places.
What makes this a GREAT cookbook is that the contributing cook wrote out their recipes by hand so each recipe has a different look and often there are little drawings (doodles) by the recipes.
Chapters include: Seafood, Game, Meats & Poultry, Vegetables, Breads, Salads, Desserts, Cakes & Cookies, Cocktail and Tea Time. There are 264 pages -- no index --with one recipe per page. Great Southern and vintage recipes from scratch.
