Here is a great 1958 copy of the Minnesota Centennial Cook Book "100 Years Of Good Cooking" edited by Virgina Huch and Ann H. Andersen. This is an unusual copy because there is a gift sticker on the inside cover (see pic) and the owner said that this was collectible--I don't know that the sticker adds that much value, but it's one of the better 1958 copies I've had.
This soft cover cookbook (comb bound with the comb at the TOP of the cookbook). The front and back covers show just a little wear at the edges from use and re-shelving. INSIDE the pages are at least 98% free of any marks, stains or writing.
The book was such a huge success when published for the Centennial Year that more than 15,000 copies were sold before the centennial year ended so it is rare to find a copy from 1958 that is in this good a condition!
The soft cover is 8 inches tall by about 5 inches wide with 191 pages. Filled with recipes from the eighty seven counties in Minnesota. Each county provides a one paragraph of facts and legends to accompany their recipes. There are more than 375 recipes are included coming directly from city and farm kitchens. Recipes such as Fish Balls, Potato Pancakes, Bread & Butter Custard Pudding, Snow Pudding, Real Norwegian Lefsa, Swedish Klenater (Christmas Cruller), Graham Molasses Raisin Bread, Danish Rum Pudding, Baked Turkey Salad, Cauliflower Superb, Potatis Korv (Swedish Potato Sausage), Shrimp & Wild Rice,"Spok'n Dek'n (German Pancake Dish),Peach Praline Pie, Swedish Kottbullar (Meat balls), Zwieback, Aunt Mary's Rharm Kuchen, Potica, Red Devils Franks, Crank Freezer Ice Cream, Julekage, Kolaches, Christmas Tart (Finnish Joulutortut), Swedish Torte, Berliner Kranser (Norwegian Cookie), Fattigman, Sandbakelse, Osta Kaka (Swedish dessert), Krumb Kag (Scandinavian) and many more wonderful recipes. Many of course are of Scandinavian origins, but there are many other ethnic recipes represented.
