Here is a very hard to find soft cover booklet titled... VICTORY CANNING Preserving Drying Smoking and Pickling Foods - Help win the war by conserving food for future use Nothing Counts but VICTORY
This booklet from 1942 is in good used condition for its age with some wear to the front cover -- specifically the tips of the corners. Top tip has a small crease--bottom corner has a few creases and wear from re-shelving. Back cover in good shape with just a little wear to the top tip. INSIDE the first few pages at the bottom tip has a crease (small dog eared corner) from re-shelving. Otherwise the pages are at least 98% free of any marks, stains or writing.
What makes this little cookbook special (besides being hard to find) is that it was edited by the famous Ruth Berolzheimer of the American Woman's Cookbook fame so these are tried and true recipes!
The booklet has 64 pages and measures 6 inches wide by just under 9 inches tall. Filled with unique recipes that helped conserve food during wartime. Filled with standard recipes for jams and jellies, how to preserve food (it even shows how to build a storage shelter outside) and unique recipes such as Lemon Catchup, Mushroom catchup Grape & Apple Catchup, Chicago Hot Relish, Honey Jelly, Cider Apple Butter, and many more! With black and white pictures and drawings sprinkled throughout the the booklet. At the bottom of some of the pages are little phrases like.... Let's prove that we are fit for freedom! Brave hearts at home make brave soldiers in the field.
