Here is a wonderful vintage hard cover cookbook from 1929 titled... THE SAVARIN COOKBOOK Scientific Cooking for Profit by Baptistin Allevi (Supervising Chef The Railroad Savarins, New York.)
For being over 80 years old, this fascinating cookbook is in very good condition with minimal wear to the covers from use and re-shelving. A bit or rubbing at the tips of the covers. INSIDE the first blank page has a name written in haste and an old penciled in price from a used book store (see all the pictures) otherwise the pages are at least 98% free of any marks, stains or writing. Tucked into the pages of the book is the original bill of sale from November 20th, 1931 when the cookbook was sent to the Kahler Hotel in Rochester Minnesota. (And just so you know... Since opening its doors in 1921, The Kahler Grand Hotel has offered legendary hospitality and a comfortable destination for those visiting the adjacent Mayo Clinic.)
This hard cover book has 262 pages including index. What makes this cookbook so unique is that there are recipes for just one portion (or serving) and others are for 50 servings. Also sprinkled through the book are black and white photos of how a dish would look plated.
